Binanggit ni Rubrico (n.d.) na ang lexicon ng isang wika ay nagsasaad ng uri ng pamumuhay at pananaw ng gumagamit nito, pati na rin ang mga bagay na pinahahalagahan nito. Sa kabilang banda, ang argot naman ay ang sikretong lenguahe na ginagamit ng ibaââ¬â¢t ibang grupo upang maitago ang kanilang pinaguusapan (Wikipedia, 2009). Kung susumahin natin ang depinisyon ng lexicon at ilalapat sa kalagayan ng gay lingo , ang gay lingo ay mismong nagsasaad ng uri ng pamumuhay ng isang bakla at bilang isang argot, upang maitago ang kanilang ulayaw na pag-uusap at maprotektahan ang mga birheng tenga ng mga nasa paligid (Alba, 2009).
